June 1979: The moment my heart lost itself to travel. Seeing the iconic Taj Mahal on my very first trip to India wasn't just sightseeing— it was a breathtaking encounter with history, romance, and beautiful architectural magic.

Known for his energetic stage presence within both lead and rhythm guitar sections, Foreigner’s guitarist Bruce Watson electrifies crowds during live performances.

Bundi Gate. The threshold to old-world India. Beyond this historic entrance lies a maze of forgotten paths, demanding the ultimate explorer's question: "what is waiting for me down that alleyway?"

The charismatic performance of Kelly Hansen, the lead vocalist for the classic rock band Foreigner. He has been the frontman for the group for over 20 years, bringing hits like "Waiting For A Girl Like You" to live audiences.

Stilt houses in a fishing village, located in Phuket, Thailand. The area is characterized by a reliance on the sea for daily life and livelihood. The boat in the foreground is a traditional Thai long-tail boat (known as Ruea Hang Yao), which commonly uses repurposed V8 automotive engines mounted to a long drive shaft.

Land Rovers were also used – but petrol vaporisation & overheating was a problem in the West Australian outback in1978.  I was based in Mundiwindi, WA and working as a geologist’s assistant gathering potential diamond samples for de Beers.

1962. My dad, Jack Lee, and his boat ‘Sunshine’ with an Evinrude inboard/outboard motor on a tumblehome transom. Towed behind a 1939 Chevy. #5. Dad, a civil engineer in the Waikato, bought five of these Chevy’s from a New Zealand Army auction (painted army green) to get his workmen on site.  I recently spotted one in Mount Maunganui, NZ and was fortunate to sit inside; the Déjà Vu smell bought back many happy childhood memories.  Photo was taken outside a bach our family used to rent on Harbour Drive, Otumoetai, Tauranga, NZ during the summer holidays.

English musician and producer Alan Parsons performing live at the Taupo Summer Concert, 2017. He is a renowned audio engineer who famously worked on The Beatles' Abbey Road and Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. He founded The Alan Parsons Project, known for hits like "Eye in the Sky".

The Rigmarollers. At the David Hall in South Petherton, Somerset, England. Very joyful with a massive sound, as part of the South Petherton Folk Festival.

Blackberry Smoke is an American Southern rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. Known for blending hard rock, blues, and country, the group is fronted by vocalist Charlie Starr and guitarist Paul Jackson. This performance was captured live, by me at KTBA Mediterranean cruise  2023.

Tod Park Mohr the frontman for the rock band Big Head Todd and the Monsters.  The band originated in Colorado. His electric guitar, is a Fender Stratocaster. We witnessed his incredible talent on KTBA (Keeping The Blues Alive). While cruising around the Caribbean. His song "Bittersweet" is worth listening to.

Honoring over four decades of music! 🎷 Martin Meredith—protégé to UB40’s Brian Travers—celebrates the band’s milestone 40th anniversary live in Nelson, NZ.

North American Harvard NZ1052, a warbird trainer built in 1943 that originally operated in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The aircraft is powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-1340 Wasp radial engine, capable of top speeds around 335 km/h.

The vintage atmosphere of the Hackberry General Store, located on historic Route 66 in Arizona, USA. The site is known for its collection of old vehicles and memorabilia. – a very interesting place to visit.

Renowned for its ancient forests and dramatic coastal views, the Hump Ridge Track in New Zealand's Fiordland National Park is a 61 km loop. This multi-day walk took us through a lush rainforest characterized by a dense undergrowth of vibrant ferns.

Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail in New Zealand, a 55km journey connecting the townships of Clyde and Cromwell in Central Otago. It features cantilevered platforms clipped directly to steep cliffs along the lake gorge.

In 1986, I crossed the Pacific Ocean on 'Blaze', a 60-foot sloop I helped build from scratch. Sailing from Tauranga, New Zealand, to Newport Beach, California with a few island stops along the way. It was an unforgettable and epic adventure.

'Blue on blue', Joe Bonamassa, blues-rock superstar. He set up the KTBA (Keeping The Blues Alive) Foundation cruisers,10 years ago. Such an awesome guitarist; listen to him when you get the chance. 6 nights & 5 days of Blues, (March 21 - 26, 2025 ) spoilt for choice with 26 artists onboard! Port Miami to Port Miami with a few Caribbean stops thrown in = Exciting times!

I went for a ride "on a horse with no name, it felt good to be out of the rain." San Antonio de Areco, Argentina.

Blast from the past. I scored a flight in a P51 Mustang & crossed that off the bucket list. Here strapping on my parachute.  What an amazing experience! Taupō, New Zealand.

The joy of kayak fishing in the main shipping channel on Tauranga Harbour, New Zealand. The large cruise ship arriving is the 'MS Queen Elizabeth' from the Cunard Line fleet.

American blues rock musician George Thorogood.  He is recognised for his high-energy performances and distinctive slide guitar technique for over 50 years! with his band the Destroyers. Best known for his signature song, "Bad to the Bone."

Roger Hodgson, the co-founder and former singer-songwriter of the progressive rock band Supertramp, founded in 1969. He is often noted for the intimate and genuine nature of his shows.

I was very fortunate to spend 11mths in the West Australian outback back in 1978. Based in Mundiwindi and working as a geologist’s assistant gathering potential diamond samples for de Beers. We used a Bell Jet Ranger 206B to take grid samples across the Great Sandy Desert WA. Here taking a 2kg sample. Chis Lee in the chequered shirt.

Mangakino stream suspension bridge on this superb day ride. It is located along the Waikato River Trails between Whakamuru and Mangakino village, New Zealand.  This suspension bridge spans 70 meters in length and stands 12 meters above the water.

Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell of the classic rock band America. They achieved international fame with their close vocal harmonies on hits such as "A Horse With No Name" "Sister Golden Hair" and "Ventura Highway" . The duo has maintained a busy touring schedule for over 55 years!

A spectacular experience watching hot-air balloons taking off at sunrise over Göreme., Turkey. The geological formations of this area provide a stunning backdrop for these balloon flights.

I caught this large snapper softbaiting with light gear on Tauranga Harbour from my Viking Profish Reload kayak. The ultimate fishing machine, characterised by its specialised tackle pod system and super-stability when things go 'pear shape'.
